hi city fan! yeah i've seen pics of the cyber man and to be honest i'm not sure I like them yet - the old ones had a more emotion less look to them making them sinister - or is that just a childhood memory? I'll have to see what my kids make of it - they have been quite scared at the new series, which seeing it through their eyes is quite exciting to observe!

has anyone else wondered why the witnesses hold a meeting in order to 'keep doing this in rememberance of me' ?

since i was old enough to think and reason (yes i know how terrible!

) i could never understand why our 'celebration', the one thing important to true christians in the year, was another meeting!

Has anyone else wondered why the witnesses hold a meeting in order to 'keep doing this in rememberance of me' ? Since I was old enough to think and reason (yes I know how terrible!) I could never understand why our 'celebration', the one thing important to true christians in the year, was another meeting! Why didnt we have meals and spend the time with our friends or family's, remembering the good that Jesus was supposed to have acomplished by means of his sacrifice in line with the type of arrangements we see in the bible? Instead we have this somber arrangement where all the elders had fresh haircuts and were unusually friendly to interested folk, and the bizzare ritual of passing round bread and wine only to be so called observers of it - we hadn't had any annointed ones in that congregation for the known history i had, and i'd attended for 25 years or so. It seems to me that due to the introduction of the great crowd and other sheep teaching they didnt know what to do and carried this on but in a ritualistic way in order to count those attending so to boost the number of interested persons

Bad Behavior in Field Service

being raised in the 'truth', i obviously spent much of my youth in service.

of course, as we got older, my friends and i would act the fool in service as much as possible.

we used to use the names of popular rap artists with the old farts we called on.

LOL! some funny stories! Mine are these: Working with my brother and if he didnt want to do a door and we argued over who's turn it was he'd ring the bell and the walk away knowing I was a sucker and felt compelled to stay! (he's an Elder big wig now ) Another time I was with a mate (pioneer) and we went into this block of flats (apartments for you US people ) and it stunk of piss so we were saying to the people 'glad to find yoUR IN(E)' which had us in fits of laughter so we couldnt do our presentations - making excuses like we had just told eachother a good joke! Other things were another mate was an Elders son and we used to say we were going to a piece of very under worked territory (basically one farm house out in no where) and we'd do this house and the go and buy comics and sweets and sit in the car eating and reading for our time...sigh such happy memories!

Like most major experiences in life they never leave you entirely, but there is no reason for fear as we learn to live with things, returning to a relative normality. Sometimes as has been suggested our 'theocratic' training will effect our reactions to things that 'normal' (what is normal - lol) people take for granted. Each time we face something that our former mind reacts to it helps us move forward and beyond it, but we'll never forget...

Interestingly, God states that: 22 "And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken." So does this suggest that at this time man was unable to live forever? Certainly up to this point he was without sin, as the only law in place whereby he can fall short was to eat of the fruit of the tree he was comanded not to.

What's being implied is that if man hadn't have sinned he would have lived forever if that is the case would he have also not known good and evil too? In fact if he didnt know this knowledge as its called how could he be perfect in that he didnt know moral's and therefore couldnt decide to live a good or evil way?

Well i have finally got to the end of this thread, I am so bad at being patient! I want to know now!

Seriously I have family that I so wish to free from the lies, anything I have brought up so far has been rejected as what satan must be saying and what other organisation doesnt go to war! It completely falls on deaf ears...I guess that introducing idea's and doubts might eventually make them decide to question it for themselves. I think it helps a lot if your either a thinker/weak in the 'truth' or have been hurt by it. Otherwise you tend to be so caught up in the propaganda that the watchtower is the only way and there are reasons for all the problems with it - even to the point that any problems with it disappear

Huge shock!

i just got a major shock.

i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.

the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.

My own mother caused lots of grief to me because she couldnt except that I was rejecting what she thought was truth. I eventually had to stop talking to her to allow myself some peace! I mean I always make sure I greet her and what not cause after all its them that shun us not the other way, but I wont go into any detail of mine or their lives. Also you say you were dfed 3 times? Maybe as you have come back before they feel stronger to shun you in the hope you will come back one more time? Just a thought. I suspect that while they are influenced by this they truly believe they are doing the right thing by you. Lots of us have taken the same stance when we were witness's We look back with regret at how we treated people then but thats what we knew and what we did - only by removing ourselves from it can we finaly see what we did too. I dont know if its harder for female's with regards to parent? Most I know seem closer to their family's than the male's, though I'm sure its not the case with all - and I get just as stressed about being shunned too. I think you have done the best thing to 1) have the facts confirmed and 2) give yourself time before making any rash replies. Well take care and chin up from your fellow Surrey ex jw!
